Third International Meeting of Colonial History, UFPE Recife, 4 - 7 September 2010 - conference

The Third International Meeting of Colonial History (Encontro International de Historia Colonial, EIHC) will be held at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). from 4 to 7 September. The meeting's main theme is Cultures and Powers in the Atlantic World (15th - 18th century) and is intended to stimulate discussion and reflection on the different forms of power, cultural expressions and social relation systems in the Atlantic world in the Modern Age. The EIHC III continues the successful experiences of the Second International Meeting of Colonial History, held in Natal in 2008, and the First Meeting of Northeastern Colonial History in Joao Pessoa in 2006, pioneering events that brought together departments and graduate programs History in several universities in the Northeast to promote debate about research and knowledge production in colonial history. With the growth of the event, new proposals and allies were added to the initial group of promoters consisting of professionals of UFAL, UFPB, UFPE, UFRPE, UFRN UESB, UFC, UFBA, UFCG and UPE, enabling the participation of lecturers and speakers of foreign institutions.
